Relationships in
Scatter Plots
Researchers look for various types of patterns in scatter plots.
*This week we will first look at the linear (a line) relationships.*
A Positive Linear Relationship is when the values of the independent variable (\(x\) variable) increase, the values of the dependent variable (\(y\) variable) increase.
A Negative Linear Relationship the values of the independent variable (\(x\) variable) increase, the values of the dependent variable (\(y\) variable) decrease.
